Her distraught parents have revealed her condition is worsening and if she continues to deteriorate doctors could be forced to take her off the liver and bowel transplant list which will end her chances of surviving.

The 15-month-old, from Whinyates Rise, Cannock, was born with a rare condition known as gastroschisis meaning she was born with her bowels outside her body.

After more than a dozen operations and constant stays in hospital Bethany's only hope is for a child under the age of 10 to die and for that child to be an organ donor. Bethany cannot be saved by a live transplant from a willing donor.

Her parents, who have said they could never ask for another child to die, have instead launched a campaign to increase the number of child organ donors.

Mum Nikki Dawson, aged 21, who recently married Bethany's father Tim Dawson, aged 28, in a ceremony at the Birmingham Children's Hospital chapel.
