Warning on parcel con

Police in North Worcestershire have warned people to be on their guard after a Bewdley man received a text message from someone saying there was a parcel waiting for him and asking him to call a premium rate number.

Knowing he had not ordered anything, the man discovered the number was an international premium rate one and that his call could have proved to be very expensive.

Police have now warned people to beware of similar requests and not to give out personal or financial details.
