The pub was demolished in the late 1970s or early 1980s for the Post Office to extend its premises. The house was demolished in the mid-1990s.

It also shows the old shed my uncle used as an office for the builder's yard he ran next to the shop. My sisters and I spent many happy hours playing in the sand there - we must have had the biggest sandpit in town. I'm sure children wouldn't be allowed to play there these days, with all the health and safety regulations there are today.

However, I was disappointed to see that you said the site was in Sun Street. That is wrong. The site is at the top of Corn Hill, at the side of the canal where all the new apartments have been built.

Thank you for the trip down Memory Lane. This building played a very large and happy part in the childhood of three young girls.
