Yobs shot a woman walking her dogs in Stourport. The victim, in her 40s, was on a footpath off Redstone Lane, near the caves, when she heard a popping noise and felt a short sharp pain under her arm.
Police say it is lucky she was not more seriously injured or killed and have appealed for information .
The attack follows thugs firing pellet guns at workers' vehicles parked near the bridge in Worcester Road Kidderminster. About £2,000 damage was caused as they also smashed windows at the site where the Severn Valley Railway bridge is being restored.
After Saturday's attack the woman thought she had a scratch from a thorn but then realised she had a small puncture wound. A hospital X-ray revealed a pellet under her skin.
Pc Kay Fillmore said: "Fortunately the woman was not seriously hurt as a result of this attack but it is cause for concern if someone is using a pellet gun in a public area.
"Even a stray shot can cause serious injury or even loss of life. If you were at Redstone Caves at the time or you saw or heard anyone using a pellet gun, we would like to hear from you."
