A former Kidderminster carpet winder was the toast of guests at a party at The Firs in Habberley Road in the town as she celebrated her 100th birthday.
Mrs Anne Harris, who worked until she was 82 and who grew up in the Oldswinford area of Stourbridge, celebrated in style yesterday.
Wyre Forest MP Dr Richard Taylor and Kidderminster Mayor Councillor Marcus Hart paid a visit and she received a card from the Queen. Still as stylish as in her younger days, she spoke to the Express & Star about her life and need for "a good sense of humour and a good outlook on life".
Surrounded by scores of birthday cards from well-wishers, she enjoyed a glass of champagne and a cigarette to celebrate her big day with family, friends as well as other residents and staff at The Firs.
