A fresh bid has been made to safeguard the future of fairground rides at West Midland Safari Park – some which are at risk as they do not have planning permission.

Technically planning officers at Wyre Forest District Council could ask for some of them to be removed as they are in breach of planning law.

Wyre Forest District Council turned down the attraction's application for a certificate of lawfulness earlier this month.

It has applied again to get them protected with a new application for a lawful development certificate – used for a existing use or activity – including those in breach of a planning conditions.

Safari park bosses are arguing the park has existed as a visitor attraction for around 10 years.
