Gunpoint threat by robbers

Robbers threatened security guards at gunpoint outside a Kidderminster building society before escaping with a "substantial amount" of cash.The armed raiders struck at the Nationwide building society, in High Street, at around 9.53 last night.

Police today said Group 4 staff had pulled up outside the building society in their van when they were challenged by three thugs carrying firearms.

No shots were fired in the robbery and no-one was hurt but the gunmen grabbed an undisclosed sum of money.

The building society was closed to customers today with a police officer posted outside and the entrance cordoned off.
