Test centre protesters' convoy plan
At least 40 cars will take part in a protest drive to show the strength of the support against plans to axe Kidderminster's driving test centre.
At least 40 cars will take part in a protest drive to show the strength of the support against plans to axe Kidderminster's driving test centre.
The cars will drive from Kidderminster's Rugby Club to the test centre in Gornal.
The site is where drivers will have to go if the Kidderminster centre is axed.
The drive will take place next Friday starting at 7.30am in Kidderminster and will follow the A449 route to Dudley where there will be a "go slow" along the streets of Gornal.
It aims to show that if Kidderminster's centre closes in February novice drivers will have to make a long journey to the Dudley test centre around 13 miles away.
Recently the Driving Standards Agency refused to rethink their decision to close the Kidderminster centre in Castle Road and would not consider alternative sites in Kidderminster.
Campaigner councillor Julian Phillips said: "The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) are refusing to back down on their decision to close Kidderminster's driving test centre despite calls for a rethink by Wyre Forest District Council.
"I am outraged at the DSA's response."
