An elderly woman was killed after her car was in collision with another vehicle carrying a mother and her 10-year-old son on a busy Stourport road.
An elderly woman was killed after her car was in collision with another vehicle carrying a mother and her 10-year-old son on a busy Stourport road.
The victim, who has not been named but is believed to live in the Wyre Forest area, was declared dead by paramedics at the scene just minutes after the smash along Dunley Road at 4.45pm yesterday.
Neither the mother, believed to be in her 30s, or her son suffered serious injury in the collision and did not have hospital treatment.
Police closed off the road for investigations to begin and for the red Volkswagen Polo, driven by the elderly woman, and blue Vauxhall Astra to be removed.
The accident took place near to the Old Beams pub.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "On arrival, the paramedic on the response vehicle immediately started to assess the elderly woman but it quickly became apparent there was nothing which could be done to save her.
"The woman in the other car suffered minor injuries from the airbags deploying. Her son was unhurt."
