A firm responsible for farmers' markets throughout the region has put its office up for sale but has pledged to remain in the Black Country town where it has its base.

LSD Promotions is looking for new premises with more storage space to accommodate stalls and equipment used for markets. But they said today they were committed to staying in Stourbridge and would look for a new base – ideally in the town centre. Boss Dermott McGillicuddy said the existing office in Lower High Street was too big for their needs.

However, he said there was insufficient storage space at the rear which has prompted them to put the site on the market.

"We have put the office, which is Grade-II listed, up for sale to see if there is any interest," he said. "We have not picked the best time to do this, but it should still allow us to see if there are any interested parties.

"Ideally we want somewhere with a smaller office space but with a larger storage area where the metal frames for the market could be stored.

"At the moment they are stored at out other sites across the Black Country, such as Walsall, but ideally we would like to have them here in Stourbridge.

"If you start to store lots of metal in such a small area it starts to look like a scrapyard and does not give the right impression."

Mr McGillicuddy said there was no question of the firm leaving Stourbridge.

"We have offices and storage space in other towns but Stourbridge has been our main base for more than 20 years and we want it to stay that way," he added.

"When the need arises to look for new premises we may be looking at some of the industrial sites on the other side of the ring road .

"Stourbridge is our home and it will continue to be."

LSD Promotions also runs markets in Wolverhampton, Kidderminster, Halesowen and Shrewsbury.
