Abusive drunken yobs, vandals and boy-racers are causing chaos for people living in some parts of Stourport, angry residents have complained.

Families in the Lion Hill and Mitton areas, say they have "become the subject of abuse" when they say anything to the trouble-makers and are now petitioning Wyre Forest District Council for help.

They say the problems have become prevalent during the past six months and the petition calls for "action against the minority that have introduced the problem to an otherwise tranquil part of the town".

One person has claimed she has suffered threats and verbal abuse and that her family's lives are becoming unbearable.

She said that she had installed closed circuit television surveillance cameras to protect her property.

Despite complaints to police and Wyre Forest Community Housing, residents say they have little evidence of action being taken.

Pc Andy Brooks-Davies, of Stourport Police, said: "We can confirm that we received five calls from residents of Lion Hill about anti-social behaviour this weekend, which resulted in officers attending a number of times. We are working closely with Wyre Forest Community Housing to deal with this."
