Most of Horsefair, a main route into Kidderminster, was sealed off after a Vauxhall Frontera crashed though the front of Prop Resources, a military store, at around 2am. Wyre Forest District Council has offices next door which were also badly damaged.

It is believed the car left the island off the Ringway and span out of control before the driver and a passenger fled the scene.

Tyre marks on the road suggest the car lost control at the island on the Ringway causing it to hurtle into the shops along Blackwell Street, commonly referred to as Horsefair.

Experts today said the buildings had been left in an unstable condition and posed a risk to the public after the smash. The car had been removed from the scene this morning. Police said two men were arrested nearby after the crash and were today in custody helping with inquiries.

Wyre Forest District Council workers were called out in the middle of the night following the accident to seal off the building.

The car had been removed from the scene this morning.
