Meetings to be held over 26-home plan

Residents are to stage a series of meetings with parish councillors to ease worries over a plan for 26 new homes in their Staffordshire village.

Huntington Residents' Association had already had one meeting with Huntington Parish Council.

Residents met officials to discuss the development of a site between Stafford Road terraced houses, known locally as Monkey Row, and Littleton Business Park. The plans by Miller Homes are a revision of original plans for 29 houses with access onto Cocksparrow Lane which they withdrew a few weeks ago.

The move followed advice from council officers from South Staffordshire Council.

Among the residents' objections are issues of privacy and overlooking, worries about the effect more homes will have on traffic in the area; the new houses would be built on the old railway cutting which will act as a safe route for pupils, away from the A34, when the new village school is built on the other side of Cocksparrow Lane and the impact on wildlife.

There are also concerns about how close the new houses would be to the existing homes and how they would block their view of the Littleton Nature Park behind them.

Mark Hough, of the association, said: "The meeting was very well-attended by both the residents' association and the parish council members which made for a successful and constructive meeting.

"We are looking forward to working closely with the parish council to find an acceptable solution to this difficult issue.

"They were able to give further information on a number of issues and further meetings are planned by the residents association to respond to these."

The residents' association are waiting for further answers to their questions.
