A man has died after two lorries and a van collided on the M6 near Cannock.
The three vehicles crashed near the Hilton Park services at Junction 11 shortly after 12.30pm yesterday. A man in the van was killed.
The male driver, whose identity has not yet been revealed, died at the scene.
The M6 had only just returned to normal after a morning rush-hour collision on the same carriageway between three lorries, which caused 10-mile tailbacks.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said of the lunchtime crash: "On arrival at the scene crews found two lorries and a van that had been in a significant collision.
"Sadly it quickly became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save the van driver, and he was confirmed dead at the scene. The driver of the second lorry, a man thought to be in his 40s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock.
"He was transferred by ambulance to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
"No one else was injured in the crash," the spokeswoman added.
Police closed Junction 12 after the accident, directing motorists along the A449.
