Workers from Sandersons Funeral Services were so shocked by the attacks on ancient memorials at St Philip's Church in Bradmore they wanted to help.
Around 20 members of staff from the family-run undertakers, based in Merridale Street, were at the Church Road site today.
Manager Chris Grundy said they were clearing up and turning over fallen headstones so mourners could read the inscription and identify the graves of loved ones.
"We just want to try and make it more bearable for the families," he said. "We saw the story and I couldn't believe anyone would do something like that."
On Tuesday the Express & Star revealed louts had attacked up to 40 gravestones and memorials at the churchyard.
Headstones have been toppled and shattered while a number granite crosses have been pushed to the ground and smashed.
Vandals even stamped through the concrete covering some graves, leaving an open hole above coffins which have been undisturbed for decades.
