A worker at a Willenhall factory had three of her fingers severley damaged when her hand got trapped in machinery.
The middle aged woman suffered the serious hand injury at Imperial Works in Wednesfield Road yesterday.
An air ambulance was sent to the company, which manufactures locks and latches, at around 3.15pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: "On arrival at the scene, a woman was found with a severe hand injury after trapping her fingers within a piece of factory machinery."
The woman was treated at the premises before being airlifted to the trauma centre at Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment.
Imperial Works director David Bate said the unnamed woman had not lost her fingers and confirmed the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.
He said: "She was working on a milling machine used in the process of making locks. She was taken to Selly Oak Hospital and we were told she was quite well last night, chatty and bubbly. We hope she makes a speedy recovery."
It is the latest manufacturing business from the borough to be transferred abroad. Around 320 jobs were lost at car locks factory CE Marshall Ltd, in Willenhall, after production was moved to the Czech Republic.
