Pair thrown by hobby tell all to TV's Trisha
A couple who met through their love of wrestling then turned on each other in a battle of the sexes outside the ring.
A couple who met through their love of wrestling then turned on each other in a battle of the sexes outside the ring.
John Stallard, aged 29, met Vicky, aged 19, when they both started training at the same club two years ago. Their mutual love of the sport brought them closer – and soon they were inseparable.
They married last September before setting up home at Poplar Road, Kidderminster. But their marriage then suffered a body blow – with constant rows about the risks for women who wrestle.
John became very protective of his new wife and tried to put her off gruelling shows as he feared the fiercely competitive sport would result in injury.
The couple, who met at the HCW club in Worcester, were locked in a constant war of words and were worried the fighting might force them apart.
Now the couple have aired their concerns on Five TV show Trisha, where this morning they agreed to a truce.
John said today: "I know Vicky likes competing in shows – but things can turn very violent. For instance I was fighting in Kentucky in America and someone in the crowd pulled out a gun. It's also very competitive. Everyone wants a place in the shows and it can turn nasty."
However Vicky, a former Wolverley High School pupil, said she wanted to train harder without him nagging.
As a bit of fun they have agreed to wrestle each other in Wolverley – where Vicky used to go to school.
The fight will take place at Wolverley Social Club on July 31 at 7.30pm. If Vicky wins John must wear a dress and if he wins Vicky must shave her head.
