One man has died and three have been injured in two separate car crashes in the Midlands.

A 23-year-old from Brierley Hill was killed after he was thrown from a car as it left the A491 Stourbridge Road and overturned.

He was prounced dead at the scene of the accident between Hagley and Lydiate Ash in Worcestershire at around 10pm last night.

The second man, aged 20, also from Brierley Hill, who had been driving, suffered minor injuries.

Police say the black Ford Focus was attempting to overtake a motorcycle when it mounted the kerb and rolled over "numerous times" before coming to rest on its roof in a layby.

The driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody assisting with inquiries.

Meanwhile, Walsall Road in Aldridge was closed for several hours after a smash between a white Audi coupe and a DAF lorry just after 4.20pm yesterday.

One man was airlifted by the County Air Ambulance to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham suffering from leg and abdomimal injuries.

A second suffered a severe injury to his hand and was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital. Both men, in their thirties, were passengers in the car. The lorry driver was shaken but treated at the scene. Walsall Road was re-opened just after 8pm. Call police on 0845 1135000.
