Five mini-motos have already been crushed after complaints from people who said they could not sit out in their own gardens or open their windows because of constant noise from the bikes.

Children as young as 10 have been causing nuisance on mini motos, mopeds, motorised scooters and quad bikes.

Officers say many are being ridden by youngsters not old enough to have a licence or take to the roads.

Sergeant Nadine Pearse said: "Many residents say they are unable to enjoy their gardens or even have their windows open because of the constant drone of the engines.

"They undoubtedly affect residents' quality of life and nuisance from mini-motos is regularly raised at community meetings.

"We are trying to get the message across to both young people and their parents that mini motos are not toys and that if they are ridden unlawfully they can and will be seized by the police and destroyed."

"Many of the mini-motos, mopeds, motorised scooters and quad bikes are ridden by youngsters not old enough to have a licence or ride on the road.

Offenders are given a warning first but repeat offenders risk having their bikes taken and crushed.
