More than £20,000 worth of stock including toys and clothes have been ruined at the Babies Born shop in Wednesfield.

Boss Ian Lewis said his shop was hit because a bin which had been set on fire in the offices of Silver & Co Accountants upstairs had burned through the floor.

It is believed yobs broke into the accountants' offices in Graiseley Lane before 9am yesterday. Four fire engines rushed to the scene.

Mr Lewis, of Carisbrooke Road, Bushbury, has run the shop on his own for the last four years. The 56-year-old said today: "I have no idea how soon I'm going to be able to re-open.

"I've got no stock left so I'm completely at the mercy of the insurance company."

Philip Lee, an account clerk at the offices, said the company had been burgled earlier this year. The 52-year-old, of Whitburn Close, Pendeford, said: "Someone stole all our desktop computers in January and since then we've been using laptops and taking them home.

"The filing cabinets do not appear to have been damaged so our clients' files are safe."
