Driver killed in crash

A driver died when her car smashed into another vehicle on the opposite side of the road near Clent.

The 48-year-old woman's Volkswagen Golf careered over the central reservation of the A491 into a Ford Mondeo at 7.25pm yesterday.

The air ambulance was scrambled and paramedics fought to save the driver but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Mondeo, a Stourbridge woman, was uninjured. The A491 was closed in both directions.
