British Transport Police say they were advised that the body of a man was discovered at Paddington railway station at 10am on Sunday morning.

Officers were called to a remote area of the station, away from public view, following the discovery of the body.

A British Transport Police statement said: "The circumstances surrounding his death are subject to an ongoing investigation, but we can confirm the deceased was not struck by a train. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained."

Investigating officers believe the deceased to be that of 42-year-old Mr Speight, who was reported missing on Monday.

A formal identification is yet to take place but will be confirmed on Monday.

The body has been removed from the scene and CCTV from the station has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Speight, 42, went missing six days after the inquest into the death of his fiancee, Natasha Collins in January.

The Speight and Collins families said in a statement on Wednesday that they were "deeply worried" for the TV presenter because of "his fragile state of mind".

Speight had been living with Miss Collins' 57-year-old mother, Carmen Collins, since her daughter's death.

Speight was reported missing after he failed to meet Mrs Collins for coffee in Covent Garden, central London, on Monday.

He found his 31-year-old fiancee with hot water burns in the bath of the London flat they shared after both took cocaine and Natasha Collinssleeping tablets.

A former pupil of the former Tettenhall College and then Regis School and a qualified graphic designer, Speight was best known for presenting children's art programme SMart, which he had hosted since 1995.

He attended Bilston Art School before enrolling on a graphic art course in London.

His mother Jackie Speight lives in Tettenhall Wood while his father Oliver lives in Sutton Coldfield.

Speight, a former member of Wolverhampton's Central Youth Theatre, also starred in several programmes for the BBC, CITV and the Discovery Channel.

He and Ms Collins met when they starred together in children's TV show See It Saw It.
