Seven stolen high-performance sports cars, including a Porsche and Lamborghini, have been found abandoned, a showroom boss revealed today.

Three other missing vehicles have yet to be recovered.

James Challis, managing director of Xtreme UK Ltd, where the 10 top of the range cars were taken from, has speculated the cars were stolen for racing.

Thieves broke into the showroom on the Old Forge Estate industrial park, in Dudley Road, Lye, on Saturday and took 10 cars worth in the region of £300,000.

But Mr Challis told the Express & Star today the majority of the cars had been recovered less than 72 hours after they had been stolen.

Among the finds were a Mitsubishi Evolution on the car park of Somerfield supermarket in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, a Subaru Impreza in Netherton, a red Mitsubishi Evolution and another Impreza in Dudley and Renault Clio V6 in Wednesbury.

The two most expensive cars to go missing, a Porsche and Lamborghini, were found first in Wolverhampton and Sedgley.

Mr Challis said: "The fact so many have been found so soon after the theft would lead me to believe this was nothing more than a joyriding exercise.

"We have been told three of the cars were spotted on Sunday on Birmingham New Road travelling well in excess of 100mph."
