An 11-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a van and a car. The youngster was killed in the horrific accident on Stables Way, Chase Terrace.
An 11-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a van and a car. The youngster was killed in the horrific accident on Stables Way, Chase Terrace.
The collision took place at around 2pm yesterday.
The 11-year-old, who has not been named, was hit by a white Vauxhall Vivaro van driven by a 49-year-old man from Chasetown before being struck by a silver Vauxhall Vectra driven by a 25-year-old man from Rugeley.
A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and a doctor were called to the scene, close to the junction with Mavor Avenue, and the county air ambulance took the boy to hospital.
But emergency crews were unable to save him and the road was closed off for around three hours while police accident investigators examined the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews found the boy with serious injuries to his head and chest.
"Attempts were made to resuscitate him at the scene and in the helicopter but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Birmingham Childrens' Hospital."
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
