Tickets, which cost £125 for a weekend pass without camping, were already starting to appear on ebay this afternoon for £450 a pair.

Troubled songstress Amy Winehouse, Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, The Verve, The Stereophonics and Lenny Kravitz are all lined up to star at Weston Park on August 16 and 17. The Prodigy, Sugababes and Kings of Leon will also be performing at the 48-hour music marathon, which is also held in Chelmsford, Essex.

Bob Angus, festival director, said: "We are chuffed to bits to sell out in just 90 minutes. It is testament to this year's great line up."

He added that a small amount of tickets could still be brought through website www.vfestival.com as part of a "green" scheme in conjunction with National Express.
