Bundles of wooden pallets were scattered over the road on the M6 Toll island at Churchbridge near Cannock. The road was shut for several hours this morning while the lorry and debris was removed.

It overturned on the middle roundabout between Great Wyrley and Churchbridge, close to the entry slip road for Junction T7 of the M6 Toll. Traffic was stacked up on both the A5 and A34 Walsall Road as police were forced to close two lanes of the carriageway on the roundabout.

The accident happened at around 2.05am. Traffic was still being diverted around the load after 8am while recovery workers used forklift trucks to move the pallets of wooden panels.

l A car had to be made safe by firefighters after crashing on the M6 Toll between Churchbridge and Burntwood at 11.20pm yesterday. Only one vehicle was involved in the incident.
