Drivers are today facing more motoring misery as another round of roadworks starts on the A449, between Wolverhampton and Dudley, lasting up to four weeks.
More jams are expected as Severn Trent carries out works which will start at the junction of Beggars Bush Lane near Himley Cricket Club heading towards Wolverhampton. Three-way lights will be in operation.
After the Beggars Bush junction there will be two-way lights up to the Wombourne island which will be manually operated between 7am and 7pm.
In a bid to avoid the repeat of the gridlock on the A449 in the new year, the firm says workers will operate lights manually at peak times.
Spokeswoman for Severn Trent, Sophie Jordan, warned delays were likely.
"The manual operation of the lights is in order to keep traffic disruption to a minimum," she added.
"However, we do urge motorists to allow a little extra time to complete their journeys and we would like to apologise for any disruption caused."
