Hundreds of homes were plunged into darkness after a fault in an underground cable cut electricity to a Wolverhampton suburb.
Around 1,800 properties were affected in the Bushbury area last night.
The power went off at 6.15pm along part of Stafford Road and Oxley Avenue as many householders were cooking their evening meals.
The supply was restored to all but 155 homes by 7.45pm.
Eon spokesman Jamie Majid said: "We apologise to our customers."
