Andrew Brookes, of the Balti Association, presented the cup to overjoyed Dilshad head waiter Islam Uddin, and manager Shebul Miah recently.
But bosses wanted a local presentation to take place too and owner Tony Uddin arranged for Mr Wright to go along.
Mr Uddin said: "To win this accolade, you firstly have to win best curry in your own town and then beat all the nine other towns to win the cup out right."
MP Mr Wright said: "I am delighted that Tony and his staff have been recognised in this way, and I was very pleased to be asked to present the Curry Cup.
"I know that this restaurant has won a number of awards in the past but this really is the icing on the cake for them."
The restaurant has scooped a host of top awards over recent years including chef Babul Muktar winning first place in a competition to find the top 10 chefs in Staffordshire in 2006.
The restaurant was also picked to host the inaugural West Midlands Curry Competition to find the best chef in the area in 2006.
Other district winners in the competition were Abdul's, in Stafford; Must, in Rugeley; Lal Bagh, in Lichfield; Chameli, in Chasetown; Curry Garden, in Brownhills; and Indigo, in Aldridge.
