Gok Wan and Andrea PerrettThousands tuned in to watch Black Country college worker Andrea Perrett cast off her inhibitions to pose naked after a makeover by TV style guru Gok Wan.

Andrea ditched her denim and rhinstone-clad clothes and her blond hair extensions to emerge with a more sophisticated image and a brunette bob.

She works as a finance assistant at Stourbridge College and stylist Gok said she had a tendency to copy styles being worn by teenagers.

So it was off with the combat trousers and white boots and on with high-heeled sandals and sophisticated figure-skimming dresses.

Andrea's appearance on last night's series finale of How to Look Good Naked tracked her growth in confidence as she shed her teenage clobber in favour of high-class ensembles.

The show culminated with a daring naked photoshoot and a catwalk show dressed in just her undies.

The 46-year-old wrote to the makers of the Channel 4 programme asking to take part after losing confidence in her appearance. She was stunned to be chosen.

The show took in a visit to the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, in Brierley Hill, where large posters of her were put up for shoppers to comment on her appearance before her makeover.

She says the show gave her the confidence to wear dresses, something she had not been able to do before. But while she intends to keep some of the style tips given to her by Gok, Andrea today said she would be returning to some old favourites.

"One thing I am going to do is go back to being blonde again. It has been a few months now since the filming and I think I preferred my hair the way it was," said Andrea of Fennel Road, Brierley Hill.

"But some of the clothing styles I am going to keep and would not have thought about putting them together in a million years.

"One style tip I am definitely going to keep is when it comes to dresses. I never used to wear them in the past because I could not get it right. Thanks to Gok I now know what to do and am for more comfortable wearing them."

Andrea said her time on the programme had given her a boost in confidence but she had mixed feelings about the show itself.

"Working at the college I am surrounded by younger people and I think you do feel a pressure. This is not something only I feel but a lot of other women as well. It is more to do with the fact when you see teenagers, you think back to yourself at that age." Andrea said the show had given her a boost as she was currently trying to get into the police force.

"I had to take an exam not long after filming and I am certain it gave me a more confident outlook going in beforehand. In terms of the programme it was a big commitment with filming spread over seven weeks for only really a small amount of footage aired.

"I think I was portrayed quite fairly in the show."

Andrea said she had seen the show herself for the first time when it aired last night and had invited friends around to watch it with her. She said a lot of people had been interested to know what Gok was like in person.

"Gok is a sweet guy but when you first meet him he can be a little in your face and some of the comments in the early part of the filming are tough," she said.

"However he is very sensitive and is horrified if he thinks he has caused you any offence.

"You can certainly tell he has studied his subject well and is very knowledgable."
