Clem's back - with a goal

Neil Clement marked his comeback with a fine goal as Albion's reserves claimed a 6-3 win against Bradford in a goal-fest at Valley Parade.

Clement played for 45 minutes after missing the majority of the season with a knee injury and he fired the Baggies into a 2-1 lead after Craig Beattie's goal had cancelled out the Bantams' early opener.

Young substitute Mo Saied scored twice in a game that also saw Martin Albrechtsen make his return from an injury lay-off and 16-year-old keeper Gavin Carlin make his reserves debut.

Luke Medley scored early for Bradford but Beattie's shot from inside the area squirmed past Bantams keeper Jamie Waite for the equaliser and Clement drove home the Baggies' second from 25 yards.

Willy Topp was on target to equalise again but Craig Shakespeare's Baggies side finally pulled away in the final 20 minutes.

A defensive mix-up saw Saied nip in to lob the keeper and make it 3-2 before Richard Chaplow planted a shot past Waite to increase the lead.

Josh Knight added a goal for Albion before Saied added his second, with Mark Bower completing the scoring for Bradford.

Shakespeare said: "It was a tale of two penalty boxes. It was a lot closer than I would have liked - too close for comfort.

"I wanted us to stretch the game better and play more quickly.

"But Bradford were resilient and showed good movement up front.

"Gavin Carlin acquitted himself well on his debut.

"I spoke to 'Clem' after and he said he felt okay after his 45 minutes.

"Martin Albrechtsen had a bit of stiffness but was delighted to get 90 minutes under his belt."
