An existing classroom at Blake Valley Technology College in Hednesford was given a major overhaul to create a new space for the use of both the school and groups from the local community. The project was headed up by assistant headteacher Mr Stacey Falamarzi.

He was helped by the Blake Valley Community Champions, a group of six students who have been involved in everything from decision making at the planning stage to discussing practical arrangements for the room's use.

As well as 28 computers and an interactive whiteboard, the new centre also has a comfy seating area and a kitchen.

Mr Falamarzi said: "The reception from the students has been fantastic. Now they have a new place where they can learn but also where they can socialise. All of the kids have said it's got a different atmosphere from any of the other rooms.

"And any community groups who are in need of a venue are welcome to use it and we can be flexible with the opening times." Call the school on 01543 512415.
