The Express & Star has learned Cannock Chase Council is investigating a plan to allow visitors to the town to park for free in the two Saturdays before Christmas.
This is a repeat of a similar scheme last year which was seen by many businesses as a vital boost to their Christmas trade.
Under the plan all car parking charges on council-owned car parks will be free on December 15 and December 22. This will also include car parks in Rugeley. Hednesford town centre offers two hours free parking normally. The plan is expected to go before the council's ruling cabinet for approval on December 13.
