Solicitor Shiva Misra, who is representing the Wolverhampton Taxi Drivers Association, said: "All 110 hackney drivers in the city will stop work between 6am tomorrow and the same time Sunday, and will continue the same action every weekend until the New Year unless they see definite action from the council." Solicitor Shiva Misra, who is representing the Wolverhampton Taxi Drivers Association, said: "All 110 hackney drivers in the city will stop work between 6am tomorrow and the same time Sunday, and will continue the same action every weekend until the New Year unless they see definite action from the council.
"Christmas is a very busy time for the drivers, and the strike will hit them hard in the pocket, but they are prepared to suffer because of the strength of feeling over years of inactivity of the council."
This week five private hire drivers were fined for plying for trade in Wolverhampton.
Council spokesman Tim Clark said today: "We have expressed our disappointment at previous strike action taken, and talks are continuing."
