Car tyres were slashed and at least two homes attacked when yobs went on the rampage along a Black Country road. Residents in West Street, Stourbridge, have told how a group of youths slashed tyres on cars parked in the street. The yobs also vandalised at least one home and terrified one woman by hammering on her door. Resident Marc Jones said his home was one of those targeted during the early hours of Wednesday morning. He said: "They have ripped down a security camera which was at the front of the house." He added that all of the wires off the wall had been pulled off and burned. "Some people up the road have also had their tyres slashed and other damage has been caused as well. I would imagine it would have been very frightening for a lot of people in the street, especially older people and those living on their own." She said: "There was some loud banging on my door which sounded like it was going to knock it down. It was scary and I imagine they have been causing similar problems all the way back to wherever they live.
"I didn't want to look outside just in case, but it was serious and I hope the police do something about it."
West Street leads off Enville Street and is along a main route to and from Stourbridge Town Centre.
Police confirmed they had received reports of a disturbance in the street just after midnight on Wednesday.
They said they were linking it to another disturbance in the street when some cars were attacked at 10.41am on Tuesday.
Police in the town have trying to increase patrols of the town's 'Old Quarter', including West Street using community support officers.
However police have been left having to struggle against the demand of the town centre in recent years.
The town centre has seen an explosion of bars and clubs. Police have even had to introduce a traffic ban after midnight in the High Street to cope.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Stourbridge Police on 0845 113 5000.
