Police and ambulance crews were called to the entrance of the Ryemarket car park at 1.10pm yesterday after onlookers raised the alarm.

The man, who has not been named is believed to be in his 20s.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to Russells Hall Hospital in nearby Dudley.

The man is also believed to have suffered injuries to his chest and leg.

Police sealed off the entrance to the car park for more than three hours following the incident as an investigation was launched.

One onlooker, who did not wish to be named, said they had seen the man fall.

The man is now said to be in a stable condition.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said investigations were continuing.
