More police have been drafted in to help search for a Cannock man who has gone missing from hospital.

Officers have been called in from across the Chase Division to help find Robert Baseley.

The 61-year-old from Chadsmoor is believed to be suffering from the onset of dementia.

Over the weekend the police helicopter and search dogs have been used to scour the area including a large-scale search of the Cannock Chase beauty spot.

Police today said they were expanding their search to include areas of Stafford as well as Cannock.

Searches in the Chase forest and surrounding heath were being carried out again today and the public are being urged to keep an eye out for Mr Baseley.

He has no cash with him, needs medication, and is unlikely to know where he is. He disappeared from Staffordshire General Hospital in Stafford at the weekend and has not been seen since.

Mr Baseley is white, very slim, and is around 5ft 11ins tall with grey flecked white hair, which is balding on top but shoulder-length at the back.

He is believed to be wearing a grey cardigan with an orange pyjama top with light blue jeans and dark boots.

Anyone who thinks they know where Robert Baseley is or who have seen him should call police immediately on 08453 302010.
