A Dudley man has died in a Thailand apartment after a suspected overdose. David Clarke's body was discovered yesterday by his girlfriend Camille Reynolds.
She had been asleep when he died, according to Thai police.
It is believed that the 26-year-old from Acres Road, Quarry Bank, had been dead for around five hours before his body was found.
A Thai police spokesman said officers were working on the theory he had overdosed after they found anti-depressant tablets including Valium and Xanax scattered on the floor of the room.
Camille, 22, is also from the Dudley area and is currently recovering in a Thai hospital after police claimed she was "under the influence" of alcohol and medication.
The pair had been renting an apartment in the east coast resort of Pattaya for the past month.
Mr Clarke had lived intermittently with his parents Robert and Patricia and is thought to have two elder sisters. Neighours said today that Mr Clarke had been to Thailand on a number of occasions.
Friend Andy Cullis, who posted a tribute to Mr Clarke on a Thai newspaper's website, said: "Dave I'll miss you always, my little brother."
