Pc Bob Fearnall spent his last day at work last week saying farewells and preparing to fly off to start a new life in Tenerife where he has recently bought a cafe.

As the local police officer for Broadwaters, in Kidderminster, for the past eight years, he has built up many links with the local community and become a regular sight in the area.

Since May he has been working from the new police base on the ground floor of Windermere House in Grasmere Close.

During his 30 years in the police force, Bob has spent the past 18 years in the Wyre Forest district and before that served in Bromsgrove and Redditch. He said: "I have very much enjoyed my years as a beat bobby, especially the last eight years in Broadwaters.

"But now I am looking forward to starting a new life in Tenerife, where I have had a holiday home for a number of years and have recently bought a café.

"I'm looking forward to the year-round sunshine, the lovely fresh fruits and fish, and the good quality of life."

Inspector Paul Crowley of Kidderminster Police said: "Pc Fearnall has been one of our most experienced officers, and a familiar and popular figure on the beat.

"I'd like to pay tribute to his drive and commitment to the job.

"He will be very much missed not only by his colleagues but also by members of the local community.

"We all wish him well in Tenerife," added Insp Crowley.
