Tickets for the annual entertainment and cultural extravaganza have been flying out the door and festival-goers are being urged to snap up the ones still remaining or else face disappointment.

Seats for Elkie Brooks, Bewdley's own Mike Sanchez, Pam Ayres, Barry Cryer and Rick Wakeman, pictured, are all fully booked up but there are a handful remaining for a number of other acts.

These include musical duo Kit and The Widow, folk artists Roy Bailey and John Kirkpatrick, singer Stacey Kent and the man behind the award-winning natural history series The Blue Planet, Alastair Fothergill.

Afternoon performances, which include singer/songwriter Julie Felix and Henry Sandon from BBC Antiques Roadshow, are also selling well.

The programme for this year's event, which runs from October 5 until October 13, is entirely made up of performers who have appeared at previous festivals to mark the 20th anniversary.

A special exhibition illustrating the history of Bewdley Festival titled Seeing Stars in Bewdley will be on display at the town's library and will include old photos, programmes and festivals.

Publicity co-ordinator Carole Swingler said: "We have done all this preparation and it seems a long way away and now suddenly it is only a few weeks away.

"It is always exciting but this year is going to be even more exciting as it's the 20th festival and we have a great programme of people we know are excellent performers and we have some pretty big stars."

Tickets are available from Bewdley Tourist Information Centre in Load Street or from Worcester Live ticket agency on 01905 611427.
