A "grot spot" list of shame is set to be drawn up in an attempt to help officials remove blots on the landscape from Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley.

Officials want to improve the image of the Wyre Forest district and believe local people could hold the key to a clean-up campaign.

Wyre Forest District Council wants to improve the reputation of the area and also plans to develop a new "brand image" to help promote it to would-be developers, investors, shoppers and tourists.

Members want to improve how the local authority and its services are viewed by townfolk and plan to urge them to get involved by reporting grot spot areas.

Image is seen as the key to developing the area's reputation regionally, nationally and even internationally.

They are now considering calling for a new modern logo. A report to the corporate service and performance scrutiny committee, who are to meet on Tuesday, describes the present one, adopted in 1974 and altered only in the mid-80s, as "rather tired and outdated".

Officials have now suggested a review of the design a well as a new livery for council vehicles and new uniforms for staff.

They also suggest setting up a hotline for the public to report environmental problems at "grot spots".
