The drinks are now on Margaret Regan, former landlady of the Red Lion pub, after she matched five numbers plus the bonus ball to scoop £84,491.

Mrs Regan today returned to the Morrisons store in Market Street, Rugeley, where she bought the winning ticket, and spoke publicly for the first time about how she hid her ticket in her knicker drawer for safekeeping after she realised she had won.

The 65-year old is still making plans about what to do with the money but said her first priority was to look after children – Sean, aged 38, Dawn, 44, and Darren, 40.

Mrs Regan, who is married to Brian, 71, originally from Ravenhill Terrace, said: "I couldn't believe it. Sean told me to hide the ticket – so I did exactly what I was told and decided to put it in my knicker draw.

"To be honest, I haven't got a clue what to spend the money on. The one thing I really want to do is to go to New York for some Christmas shopping."
