A pensioner from Cannock is celebrating today after scooping £100,000 playing bingo.

The 76-year-old woman, who has remained anonymous, won the prize at the Gala Club in Ashmore Park, Wednesfield, while playing with her husband and a friend.

She won the National Bingo Game prize of £100,000 plus the house prize of £250 after completing a full house in 38 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs playing nationwide on Sunday.

The retired woman today said she had been a member of Gala Bingo for years and plays at least twice a week.

She said: "I was so excited when I was told how much I had won, that I knocked a cup of coffee all over the table.

"I am still in shock."

The pensioner said she has yet to decide what to spend her winnings on but said she was looking at a new car and maybe a luxury caravan for her and her husband.

This is the second time a 76-year-old woman from Cannock has scooped a big prize at the Wednesfield club when £20,000 was won on July 10.

The club would not reveal whether the two wins have gone to the same woman but the July winner reportedly told bosses she was planning to save the £20,000 jackpot as she was "not one for going out spending for the sake of it".
