A 16-year-old girl and her teenage friend were walking through the park area off Meadow Way at 4.30pm on Sunday when three pellets were fired at them.
The gun is thought to have been fired by a boy who was aged around 10. One of the girls was hit on the right arm, marking her skin.
The boy was described as being average to plump build, had short dark hair and was wearing a baseball cap and red England top.
