The Newman Grove school took part in the Catholic Primary School Cluster Tri-Golf Festival, held at Cardinal Griffin High School.
Tri-golf is a reduced version of the full game and to win, the children had to take part in four challenges involving putting, chipping and driving.
Pupils' individual scores were added up and St Joseph's came out on topThe children were awarded baseball caps. The event was organised by school sports co-ordinators Rose Brown and Iain Redpath assisted by volunteer leaders from years eight and nine at Cardinal Griffin.
Paul Mobberley, PE co-ordinator and acting headteacher, said: "We are very pleased with the result.
"The team played in a similar event at Hagley Park Sports College where they came second so this is one up from that."
Mr Mobberley said the advantage of golf is that it is not a contact sport and can be enjoyed by youngsters of all sporting abilities. Meanwhile, children in Cheslyn Hay and Penkridge are getting into the swing of summer with tri-golf sessions.
South Staffordshire Council is offering coaching lessons. Games are played with bright coloured plastic equipment to make it a safer activity.
Sessions are taking place at Cheslyn Hay and Penkridge Leisure Centres and cost £3.50 per person.
Other activities taking place include scuba diving, snorkelling, street dance, cartoon art, fitness frenzy, circus skills, printing, kung fu, Wolves football coaching, trampolining and cricket coaching. For details call 01902 696531.
