Jazz Concerts under threat by a drop in attendance will continue at a Black Country Venue for at least another season after an increase in attendance at the final shows of the Spring/Summer season.

The upsurge in interest for concerts at Stourbridge's Bonded Warehouse was strong enough to carry them through until next year.

But organiser Simon Deeley saying he was now taking it one season at a time and would see what happened over the coming months.

Changes have been made to the way the season is run with only one concert held every month and ticket prices will also be a constant rather than changing for individual artists.

Mr Deeley, who performs with his own trio for some of the concerts, was uncertain if the evenings would get another season.

He has been battling to save the concerts following a sharp drop in audiences during the last Autumn/Winter season.

The current season did not see a turnaround in fortunes for many of the concerts leading to uncertainty over their future.

But audiences at the last few concerts were successful enough to prompt another season. "We are going ahead in September but there will be a reduced number of concerts," said Mr Deeley.

"At the moment it is play it by ear and I will take every season as it comes."

The new season will start at the Canal Street venue on September 14 with a performance by the Trevor Emeney Quartet. Tickets are £7.

They are available on 01384 395216.
