Dan Evans will be working to get the movie, called Reminiscence, in the can over the next month. The teenager, of Swanfield Road, Wordsley, has already worked with names such as Sir Norman Wisdom and top Midland director Kevin Powis and even set up his own production company.
His aim is to have the film finished in time for entry into a competition for it to be screened at the IMax Cinema in Birmingham. Mr Evans's main ambition is to have one of his films shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Parts of the film have already been shot in Stourport and Hartlebury, with Mr Evans working with Hollywood director of photography David Reynolds-Lacey on the project.
Mr Reynolds-Lacey has worked as a cameraman on Hollywood blockbusters like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp.
The film is a romantic drama about two characters, David and Sarah, who are waiting at the cinema for their dates who have yet again failed to attend.
David is determined to make the most of his awful night and notices Sarah. David approaches her and they exchange numbers.
The story shows the development of how their friendship turns to love.
Mr Evans said he was enjoying filming but there was a tight deadline. "I am aiming to get the film ready for the competition and the closing date is August 29. I want the film to be finished around July 31," he said.
The Wordsley teenager is no stranger behind the camera after catching the eye of Midland director Kevin Powis after producing a Star Wars tribute film. He was asked to be a production assistant on his short film Expresso which premiered at Cannes last year.
Mr Evans, who used to work at the Odeon at Merry Hill, has also set up his own production company, Ex-pressive Arts Productions. Visit www.expressivearts productions.com
