The sun shone for the recent PTA summer fair held at Whittington Primary School, with people turning out in force to support the event.

The new attraction for this year was the balloon race, which saw more than 230 balloons launched, all competing for trips to Drayton Manor Theme Park and Conkers.

Other highlights at the event included games and stalls, a tombola, raffle, bouncy castles, face painting, craft-making and home-made refreshments.

Visitors also took a turn at learning line-dancing.

Money raised from the fair will go towards PTA funds to support the school's ongoing garden and hall refurbishment projects, along with numerous educational initiatives.

John Holmes, PTA chairman, said: "We always work hard to ensure visitors have lots of fun.

"The event was extremely well supported and launching the balloons was the perfect end to a very enjoyable and successful afternoon."
