"I do love clothes, especially dresses, and I love getting dressed up for a night out," said the 20-year-old. Jenny, who spends her day surrounded by clothes as she is works part-time as a fashion sales assistant in Beatties in Wolverhampton, said she loved finding bargains, but was also keen to buy full-price new stock when it arrived in stores. Jenny, who spends her day surrounded by clothes as she is works part-time as a fashion sales assistant in Beatties in Wolverhampton, said she loved finding bargains, but was also keen to buy full-price new stock when it arrived in stores.
"Me and my friends love making an effort on a night out so we do spend a lot on clothes. And I'm spoilt for choice as I have so many nice outfits around me when I'm at work," said Jenny, who is also a student at Wolverhampton University.
"I love the summer sales which are on at the moment and I've been able to find some bargains, but I'm also happy to pay full price if I really like the outfit."
The UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands together account for £4 of every £5 spent on clothing in the EU, Verdict's European Clothing Retailers report has revealed.
But spending across these six countries collectively rose by just 3.9 per cent in the five years to 2006. By contrast, the new EU member states are experiencing a fashion spending boom.
Estonia saw its average annual per person spend almost double last year.
