Window locks and personal attack alarms will be given out.

It is part of the drive to meet residents and issue crime prevention advice.

Police officers will be accompanied by officers from the Safer Walsall Borough Partnership and police community support officers as part of the initiative tomorrow.

Nozmul Hussain, director of Safer Walsall Borough Partnership, said: "As the slogan says, "Crime – together we'll crack it".

This is true and we have been working very closely with the police and our partners to make Walsall a safer place. This event will see officers visit the Darlaston area, meeting residents and giving tips on how they can play their part in fighting crime. It may be as simple as fitting a window lock that can make a house or property safer."

Officers will be in the Charnwood Close area between 3pm and 4pm, moving to the Hall Street shopping parade in Rough Hay between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. The group will then move to Edinburgh Avenue, Bentley, from 7pm to 8pm.

The visit is being carried out by the borough's Community Safety Intervention Group (CSIG). It sees Walsall Council, police, the teaching Primary Care Trust, probation service, fire service, Education Walsall, business, voluntary sectors and the community all working together.
